review 1: This is a book that must be read with someone else. It's a book that must be talked through as you read it. So much to infer and guess from the scant amount of words and beautiful illustrations. Each "chapter" begins with a story, that seems to be the same story, just numerous details added. It's almost as if we are seeing the editing that occurred from story to story. The illustrations are amazing and unique.
review 2: the illustrations are lovely but I think the author was extremely high or something when he wrote the text. It's not a kids book really, it uses big words, it's written in cursive, in fact sometimes its upsidedown or scrambled cursive. Trying to decipher the plot allows you to use your imagination, yes, and I felt compelled to finish it jus... moret to see wtf happened, but it wasn't worth it. Wouldn't recommend it. To top it off, my figures got tired turning the pages every second after reading the one or two words per page. If you're into the avant garde this book might be for you, if not, skip it. less
