review 1: *2.5 stars* My feelings for this book were all over the place. I was intrigued by the premise but on many levels it did not satisfy me. I loved the idea of this book ... Dad who has recently come out falls in love with the nanny who has a past. But there were so many little things that bothered me ... WHO hires a nanny for their children who has absolutely NO experience? Especially a divorced couple who lives in the Hollywood spotlight? Very few, I imagine. The UST between Dan and Louis was very well-done but once they got together ... *yawn*. The angst in the book, I imagine, is an all too real consequence for the rich and famous but it left me unmoved. However, I was glad to see the ex-wife was not portrayed as an uber bitch which sadly, in many cases, happens all too o... moreften. This one will go in the "not that memorable pile"... which is a shame because I wanted to like it so much.
review 2: Louis is in his mid 20's and in desperate need of a fresh start. He grew up in foster homes and he's done what he needed to do to get by. He's made some mistakes along the way but he's trying for a fresh start. He doing that by interviewing for a nanny position for a Beverly Hills couple who have divorced amicably and need help with their two young children. Louis knows he can do the job well but in the back of his mind he constantly worries that his past will catch up with him.Dan was married for many years until he was finally honest with himself and with his ex-wife. About his homosexuality. They have remained friends and are working together to find a new nanny. Dan realizes immediately he is attracted to Louis. This is a problem for Dan because not only does he not want to mix business with pleasure but he is new to being "out" and he has little to no experience with men. He's a little overwhelmed with the newness of it all. After Louis is hired he and Dan both realize there is a strong level of attraction between them. They both try to ignore it. Dan knows Louis is the best nanny they have ever had and he doesn't want to risk messing things up for his children. Louis loves his job and doesn't want to risk his finally stable life and his future. Despite their good intentions the two end up in a relationship and Hollywood being what it is, secrets don't stay hidden long. This is a sweet love story that follows two really likable characters on their journey from friends to lovers to something even stronger. My only complaint was how easily all of the problems were solved. It seemed there should have been a more difficult time working through what were some really big issues. If everyone was as agreeable as the characters in this book were we would have a much easier world to live in. Overall I enjoyed this story and I would recommend it for those looking for a sweet, family based, love story with very little angst. less
