review 1: Captures Your Attention, Heart and SensesRead the book blurb to get the story. Open the first page to get the feeling. Keep your heart and mind open when you encounter Robbie Grayson, partially disabled by early polio. And definitely keep your wits about you when Charles Worthington falls on top of and almost crushes Robbie while he himself is crippled and drunk upon his arrival at the Grayson estate. Then ask yourself: How do Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon keep coming up with these logically illogical 19th century English romances, all of which involve men of a certain persuasion, even if one of them might not be aware of his inclinations, and still manage to hold your interest, bring a smile, a tear, and a tug at your heart every step of the way. To say nothing of the in... moretensity of the heat in the situations which, um, ahem, call for it. Don't you know]? Oh, yes, I do know. Beautiful, brilliant, boffo!
review 2: *3.5 stars*My new *thing* is historical romance. I'm actively seeking them out, and I find that I've been loving this genre more and more. While I've read a number of Bonnie Dee's books before, this was my first experience with the writing pair of Dee/Devon, and I think these two authors did a very nice job meshing their styles. Overall, this book was very successful, though not exceptional for me. "Mending Him" is a lovely romance about two men with physical ailments. Robbie has had a limp and some physical deformity since childhood, and Charles has been fighting a mysterious ailment that, combined with a gambling/spending habit, has robbed him of all his money. Though this story could have been a big downer, it wasn't. It was charming and uplifting, these two guys finding love together. My only issue with the story is that I found the chemistry a bit lacking between the two MCs. I felt like they were thrown together due to circumstances, and there really wasn't that spark between them. It seemed more like a relationship of convenience to me, and I wasn't all that taken by them as a pair. The story was also a little slow for my tastes, and I had no problem putting it down and going about my day. However, that being, said, this story was a nice one. I enjoyed it overall and would recommend it to any M/M historical lover. *Copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review* less
