review 1: I picked this up on the recommendation of one of the contributing authors whose books I've enjoyed. And while there is a lot of talent here, sadly I did not find anything memorable. I am probably not the best one to review this book as although I enjoy reading short stories occasionally, I just don't find them as satisfying as a novel or novella. There is certainly a lot of variety in these selections with an interesting concept of developing a story around a box, albeit some are more mysterious than others. I do hope other reviews will be more positive than mine.
review 2: The problem I have with many short story anthologies is the fact that authors seem to feel that they don't have to actually finish the story...the reader is left to guesstimate what has happ
... moreened after the alleged ending...and that's the case with most of the stories in this anthology. Although some of the stories simply weren't my cup of tea, I can't say that I enjoyed any of them due to a lack of endings. Thankfully, I borrowed this book from one of my local libraries because I would be upset if I had spent money on this unfinished book. I think that unless authors give a short story a definite ending the short story should be free...after all, I've yet to read an anthology titled The Never-ending Story. less
