review 1: This is some badass shit right here. l am a huge fan of Keene's and have read a ton of his stuff. So far, he's one of the two writers that can actually scare me. l don't know who these Thirteen are, if there is any basis for them in the real world or if Keene made them up or what, but they are terrifying. l love how all of his books are connected by these beings; like Keene is building his own universe. And that universe is royally fucked up. In regards to this specific book, it was less frightening than his other books (e.g. The Rising or Ghoul) but it was still immensely enjoyable. Very fast paced, definitely a page-turner and l absolutely recommend it.
review 2: Ghost Walk is a sequel to Dark Hollow and interconnects many other works of Brian Keene as well.
... moreIt was a fair read with many interesting and frightening moments, but on the whole, not my favorite. The concept of the darkness that is so well explored in The Darkness at the Edge of Town, is here in its infancy, and the use of darkness slaves toward the middle of the book was spooky, this was discarded which made some of the immediacy of the horror fade too fast. Really if you don't know what could happen (as in the aforementioned novel) the fear factor might be less.Ken Ripple is starting a ghost walk near LeHorn's Hollow in memory of his deceased wife. The problem is that the being, who's servant tortured the local folk in Dark Hollow, is going to rise and consume the Earth on Halloween. This book introduces Ex-Amish Van Helsing character, Levi, and brings back the protagonist from Dark Hollow. Does Brian Keene deliver chills with snappy writing, yes. Was I pulled into the story, no. It felt like Keene wasn't on top of his game with this one and the horror seemed to be described rather than explored. I wouldn't recommend this one to first time Keene readers. If you've read the other two works mentioned in this review, Ghost Walk is a must. less

Excellent book. First book I've read by him and would definitely read more of his books.

Not terrible. Moved quickly (read it in an afternoon). Not as scary as I'd hoped.
