Life's a Witch
review 1: I enjoyed Life's A Witch a lot more than What The Spell? The reason I enjoyed Life's A Witch more is because Hadley isn't as bitchy as Brooklyn was. I mean, I know she's popular but at least she's not so bitchy about it. Also, she doesn't go power mad like Brooklyn kind of did when she gained her powers. The other thing I really like about Hadley is the fact that she actually cares about other people (unlike Brooklyn) and she's prepared to actually fight for the people she cares about. To be honest, the main reason I like this book better than the previous one is the fact that Brooklyn isn't in it.I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes stories with a little bit of supernatural stuff and for anyone who enjoys action books.

... moretains spoilers*****Once again i've done the typical Jenny thing and read a book series out of sync. I will try and check out book 1 if I can find it in the library; but it didn't feel like I was missing anything by just reading book 2. Hadley is Miss Popular at school, she's head cheerleader and her close friends worship the ground she walks on. Another thing about Hadley is she is also a witch. When another witch's parents go missing, Hadley's Mum and Dad and the rest of the adult Cleri (their coven) go to try and find out what happened. Unfortunately it has devastating consequences. Hadley being one of the oldest ends up taking charge. She knows she has to get the other Cleri members to a safe place and continue with their magic training in case the Parrishables, an evil dark witch Coven attack. When she is advised by another member of the coven that there is a traitor among them Hadley's life gets a little harder. Cue a love interest for Hadley. Asher is a good looking guy who Hadley has only seen once when out jogging and then she literally bumps into him at a shopping mall. When the Parrishablea attack the Cleri at the shopping mall, Asher finds out the truth about witches. Hadley invites him to stay with the Cleri at their hidden cabin in the woods.Asher trains in hand to hand combat with the rest of the Cleri and while the others in the group are practicing spells, Asher and Hadley grow closer.I'd had my suspicions about who the traitor was when it was first mentioned. There are a few things that a planted in the story to send you off course but I never doubted myself and it turns out I was right. When the Parrishables eventually attack, the Cleri are prepared despite their initial uncertainty and the rest as they say is history.A nice teen book, easy read. Definitely aimed at someone younger than my 26 years. Hadley annoyed me at times. Everything is about looks and how she appears to other people. I know alot of teenagers care about what they look like, but this girl goes into battle in a red skin tight catsuit and heels- certainly not like any teenager i've ever known. Also her relationship with Asher seems very fast. Although they don't do more than kissing in the book, within a few weeks they both declare their love each other. The twist at the end of the book leads me to think there will be a third book in the series- I haven't checked. Would be interesting to see what happened next. less
