review 1: I can see what the author is trying to do here. High school politics are hard to navigate around even when your a witch . However the author lost me right after she started altering her whole self all together to get her 'dream self'. That was a recipe for disaster all together. The story board and plot would most likely entertain any 12 year olds but for those who are older than that it would most likely be a bore. I am hugely disappointed to say the least.
review 2: Witchcraft meets teenage angst. Even aimed at 13 year old girls, this story was poorly put together. Magically prevented from using her powers until 16 year old, the first thing Brooklyn does is give herself a magical makeover. Armed with her new body, she gets her boyfriend, who happens to be ... morea witch too (go figure) and attempts to gain access to "the elite". This popular group puts Brooklyn through an initiation and ruin her life, disenfranchise her boyfriend and family, and compromise her values. Does she get her life straightened out? Well, I read this book because book 2 had good reviews. I hope book 2 is worth it because book 1 was a bitter disappointment. Not recommended. less
