Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing Turtles All the Way Down by John Green!

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.
“The thing about a spiral is, if you follow it inward, it never actually ends. It just keeps tightening, infinitely.”
I was really excited for this book when it was announced even though I had no clue what it was about. I’m a fan of John Green which is really a shocking statement, I really almost any reader would tell you the same, and the last book I read by him was like in 2013 *i was late to the train okay so when a new book was announced I was really excited. As the days got closer and closer to the release date and we got a cover and other things announced, I decided that I would avoid as much information about this book until I had it in my hands. Because I knew that if I read all information and new every single thing then I would ruin this book for me before I even stepped into the bookstore to get. So I made sure I knew nothing about the book. Literally. The only things I knew about this book was that it was called ‘Turtles All the Way Down’, it was written by John Green, and it follows a girl with OCD. That’s it. I didn’t even know her name until I got the book and read the summary.
I’m glad I did this though because I have a very big history of overhyping books and then my angry and disappointed when I read them *Divergent, Six of Crows, Ember in the Ashes, etc. It’s a problem and one that I wasn’t going to let stop me from enjoying this book. This worked really as because I knew nothing about the story so with everything that happened I was surprised and I ended up really enjoying this book. Aza was a really great character to read about and the story was written so well and thought spirals were really retable. It was so interesting watching them just be written and unfold into something and then I was reading it was like my mind spirals had things just happen. It was really retable. When Aza is thinking about C.Diff and how she thinks she has it I’ve like been through that before. I’ve gotten better with this because I’ve stopped looking at diseases online and I don’t take classes anymore that involve watching videos of about diseases but when I did look stuff up online and be in classes that involved watching videos about diseases, I believed that would somehow have them even though some of them you could only get from countries I had never been to or involved doing things that I had never done.
I liked Davis he was a good character. That’s the thing with John Green books I seem to not hate any of the characters because to me it seems that they aren’t perfect but they aren’t completely flawed and unlikeable. It’s nice though. I like that about his book. I was expecting his dad to be dead. Someone said they hoped he would be live but after Paper Towns I just kind of figured we would get an ending close to that. I mean I still enjoyed the book and I came close to crying at some many parts. That scene where her and Davis kiss and then she goes and swallows hand sanitizer I was like gagging because how could she not freak out about swallowing hand sanitizer because that would be something that I would freak out about. That scene where she reads her friend’s Star Wars fanfic and she realizes that there is a character that is close to her. Her and friend get into that fight and I was so scared. And then she had to go to the hospital and it was so emotional!
We get to like 200 something pages before Turtles are even mention and it’s the title is mention and it turns out Turtles All the Way Down is a real thing which makes me feel dumb for not knowing that so don’t judge me. This book was great. It was more heart felt and amazing and it deals with this topic so well which I loved because a lot of the books that I read don’t deal with these topics in the right way with romanticizing them and this book doesn’t do that which I was so great for. This might be my favorite John Green book, I loved Looking for Alaska but there is something about this book that I love and I can’t let go of. Weirdly when I finished the book, I didn’t know how to feel about it but then like five minutes later, I was laying in bed and suddenly I started thinking about this book and I realized that it’s such a good book. It’s one of my favorite books of the year and if you love John Green books then pick up Turtles All the Way. You’ll love it.
