review 1: After indulging in paranormal and suspense reads, I wanted something different, something that is romantic and sweet. Having enjoyed "The Carny", I chose another book from the same author. The "What If" Guy is romantic and sweet. Autumn and Henry were soulmates and shared a strong bond despite being separated from each other for ten years. During the time apart, Autumn became a single mom to a musically talented son and Henry was in a relationship with a rich socialite. But they always yearned for each other. I enjoyed this book, not only because of the love between Autumn and Henry but also Autumn's relationship with her best friend and her alcoholic father, and how she finally realized what her hometown had to offer despite her efforts to flee into the city to es... morecape.
review 2: From the beginning of the book, I was drawn into the relationship between Henry and Autumn. They are so obviously meant to be together, that it makes you want to scream at the characters to just go for it. I really enjoy stories about second chances. Both Henry and Autumn have reached a low point in their lives, and desperately need something to give. The fact that they both show up in the same tiny town when they are both a little lost would seem like a sign to most of us. But these two take some convincing, and a lot of run-ins with each other to take the hint. Fate is trying to tell them something, and they just aren't listening. I also really enjoyed the side story about Autumn's relationship with her father and son. Reading about Autumn's tentative rebuilding of her relationship with her father is especially touching. We all have that guy that makes us wonder "what if", but Autumn's is real and waiting. less
