review 1: The beginning of the story has a rocky start for me, but part two redeems itself. If I were still in high school I might appreciate this level of writing, but I'm not. Reliving these college years is like reliving high school. The process to seek revenge on this list is tedious and tiring to read. Way too much information about Macsen . I do not need the inside scoop on his life to form an opinion on him. The fact that Emilia is getting distracted with Macsen is enough to realize she is no longer interested in seeking revenge against him. Once the relationship begins with Macsen the story gets more emotional. I've finally felt the connection and have become absorbed by the two of them. The story is separated into three parts. For me the story begins in part two and three. ... moreThose are the best parts of the story. These will captivate you. Part one was setting up the story, but that process was too lengthy for me. Unfortunately, that is going to affect my rating. Calia needs to rework part one. The way she introduced Macsen could have been achieved in a more mature way.
review 2: I fell in love with Emilia and Macsen than Saverine and Thayer's love story. Though at first I kinda hate Macsen for being an a'hole but when I read this book, I was immediately in love with Macsen. I fell in love with him, because I begin to know and understand him, plus his chemistry with Emilia is so very explosive. Emilia is really perfect for Macsen, she brought out the true Macsen and she makes him feel alive and happy. I was kinda rooting for Severine for Macsen in book 1 but now I'm so happy that Macsen-Severine romance did not work out. I know I'm being mean but let's face it, Macsen-Severine's chemistry was weak.=) less
