review 2: Read in French. Easy to read language wise which is a plus. But really quite disappointing. Really flat stereotypical characters and too many loose ends. The protagonist Martin, who is a police officer, probably did the worst and clumsiest policing I’ve ever heard or read about. And that
... more’s just it, because had he done his job the normal way, the mystery would have been solved in the first twenty pages. I spent the entire book wondering how it’s possible, that when one character is murdered by poison in his drink –while lodging at a private holiday resort- Martin didn’t interview the kitchen/house staff. The police officer spent his whole time making short clumsy interviews with the murdered man’s family, not stopping once to consider it even possible that the people who served the food and drinks, might have been the ones to slip the poison in? Seriously? Don't the police usually interview everyone at a murder scene? less
