As readers followed babies to join the merry parade in town, eat luscious chips with salsa, sing along with traditional Mexican music, and dance Cha-Cha-Cha, readers will be surrounded by the jubilant atmosphere of celebration as well as the warm and close connection within a family. Illustrations with vibrant colors add pleasure of reading and present visual images of Mexican culture. With few Spanish words in the text and a glossary in the back of the book, this book is ideal for beginning learners of Spanish.
review 2: Fiesta Babies is a very cute rhyming book for young children. The illustrations are very colorful, much like the traditional Fiesta celebrations. The way the pictures are created gives a very curvy,... more flowing feeling throughout each page and throughout the book there are children of a variety of cultures represented. The pictures are all very happy, family oriented style, with little children being the main focus which is something relatable for the children. The book vocabulary is short and simple, but with some cultural words like siestas, besos, or abrazos. The story is written in a rhyming format that guides the reader to read the story almost in a rhythm like a song. I think this book would be a good choice for kinder or 1st grade classrooms not only because of the literacy level but also because it is a cultural book and focuses on unity between the cultures. less
