review 1: Carol Casella's books are wonderful. In this one, she deals more with relationships than with the science of her first book, Oxygen. Claire gives up her burgeoning medical career to take care of her very ill newborn. Then her husband makes it big, and they no longer have to worry about money. But money quickly made can be quickly lost - she and her family must now move to rural Washington, and cope with their new circumstances. The mystery is what really happened, how their money and position was lost, and how and if they recover.
review 2: Another great book by Carol Cassella, who weaves a tale of poor choices, secrets and the devastating consequences of both. Claire Boehning, a physician who has never actually practiced, and her pharmaceutical researche
... morer husband have lost their fortune and are deeply in debt. With their young teen daughter, they move to an old farmhouse in the country to regroup and Claire begins working in a small clinic operated for migrant farm/orchard workers. This is another morality tale, richly written to get readers thinking about catastrophic life events and starting over. At one point, the plot could have taken a Robin Cook twist, where evil doers are plotting behind the scenes. Thank God, Casella did not make that choice. Her story is inspiring, heartfelt and deeply moving. I highly recommend it! less
