review 1: I really try not to write negative reviews if it can be helped. There were just so many positive reviews for this book that I vastly disagreed with. My experience with Carol Lynne books has been twofold. They are either well done or they are like this book, a good idea for a story line ruined by telling not showing, elementary writing, and insta love with zero buildup to lead to that end. I like the idea of Carol Lynne's books. I just so rarely like her execution. I wanted to like this book. I just didn't and struggled not to put it down without finishing it. It was just like reading an eighth grader's fiction story that somehow got published.
review 2: Rocco and Joe have a wonderful story. Rocco had such strength, but it was subdued beneath all the bad experie... morences of his past. He is such a doll, and is one of my favorite characters, along with Jay from Cattle Valley. Hmmm, seems like a trend for me. Still I have other favorites who are nothing like Jay and Rocco. It's the personality and who I identify with the most. Love it.***As you'll have noticed, I don't really write "reviews", just my own rambling thoughts and impressions.
