review 1: I may be the last one of my friends to be reading this book. For fans of "young adult" novels and older adults who remember the 80s, this book will not disappoint. Some may find it overly sentimental, but for a first novel in which the author writes in the voice of a 14-year old unexceptional suburban girl struggling with relationship issues and grief, I found the book memorable. Carol Rivka Brunt manages to evoke so many emotions over the course of the story that the reader leaves it feeling totally wrung out. review 2: I love this book. Look! It got ALL five stars, that means it's special. Not going to cheapen it with my feeble attempt at a review. I will only strongly urge you to read it.
