The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates
review 1: This is an entertaining book about a young girl, Hilary Westfield, who wants to be a pirate. She applies for the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates (VNHLP), but gets turned down because she is a girl. Her father, Admiral Westfield has enrolled her instead into Miss Pimm's Finishing School for Delicate Ladies. She hates it with a passion. She answers an advertisement for a pirate crew where she is thrilled to be on a genuine adventure. Along with the captain, Jasper Fletcher, and her governess, Miss Greyson she encounters the Royal Navy after them. If she can't figure out where the treasure is, the captain says she will be sent back to finishing school. Everyone is trying to find the magic treasure that the Enchantress has hidden. Whoever finds it first wi... morell probably end up ruling the kingdom of Augusta.
review 2: If I hadn't listened to the Jacky Faber novels narrated by Katherine Kellgren before this, then I probably would've liked this better. But I felt like I was getting a bit of a cheap rip off. This book is like Jacky Faber minus music minus slight raciness (the rogues always wanting to rob Jacky of her virginity minus about 300 pages of plot and real adventure + magic and a few more pirates. So if you want a cleaner Jacky then Hillary is your girl, and she's got a little gargoyle too. less
