review 1: I really enjoyed this story. It was uncomplicated and sweet and the characters were always honest with each other, which is refreshing because you don't encounter that often. I'd recommend this novella as a nice way to spend an evening after a long day :)An Earl in need of funds finds a woman he could love and pursues her, recognizing that love is important to him...and he never sways from the conviction that he loves the heroine for her, not her money. How uncommon!
review 2: Prequel to series but can be read as stand-alone. The start was very promising. When H/h meet for the first time, sparks fly and not in a way you imagine. Margaret gives Rhys a thunderous set down. She's tired of fortune hunters going after her enormous dowry and she lashes out at him
... morewhen he approaches her and asks her to dance. Obviously this results in H becoming even more determined to have her and not just for her fortune. Maybe because it's a novella and author was limited by specific word count, the story lacked substance. The whole courtship when h finally warms up to H is a case of 'telling not showing' which was very disappointing. It's something like: "Over the next two weeks she started liking him because he treated her with respect. THE END." less
