review 1: I don't know enough about this time in history to know while reading it which parts were made up and which were based in truth. With that being said, I thought this was a good read. I like the little twist that you know he sees her beheading early on, it made me curious to see how the story would end. I always like to mention that I listened to it on Playaway, I didn't read it in book form. I feel like that makes a difference. The person who read this book had a wonderful accent and I think it helped me to enjoy the story more.
review 2: I love these fantastical historical accounts of the lives of real people. It takes them off the dry pages of history books and brings them to life. Unfortunately for Queen Mary., neither she nor her eccentric cousin Queen Eliza... morebeth were particularly loveable women. I thought she deserved much of what she got because she didn't have a humble bone in her body. Got a little long on the telling but was well done overall. less
