review 1: I really liked the writing style. I began reading this because of the history and finished because I had to know what would happen to the characters. I think it would deserve 3 and 1/2. The history was turned into an easy-to-read story. I think the history was interpreted properly, but I found the ending dragged-out and horribly sad and depressing. I know the writer couldn't help it, as it I history, but I still found it painful to read. Nevertheless, a good read.
review 2: My first dip into 'historical entertainment' and I really enjoyed it. Erickson brings the life and times of a troubled queen to life with her descriptions. Written in the first person as Mary had dictated to book it's and interesting approach to the historical novel.Left me want more and wi... morell be on the lookout for similar books. My own personal connections to such place as Edinburgh and a recent visit to Stirling Castle just added interest for me. less
