review 1: “Ambush” is a fun, little short story. It serves as a sort of prequel to the first book in “The Betrayer” series and it does a good job introducing three characters, whom I suppose have some weight in the series and provide a few intense pages filled with non stop action, from the first to the last sentence. “Ambush” clearly succeeds in creating interest for the next book and also as a little glimpse into the author´s ability to create a light but very entertaining read. It could have used a bit more plot though, or better yet, a plot because what there is can hardly be called as such. “Ambush” has the bare minimum story to create an excuse for the action, introduce the characters and set up the start of the book. Its all very entertaining, in a blockbuste... morer forgetful way but showing enough promise for me to pick up the series with anticipation. There´s a lot of potential here, both for the author and the series!
review 2: Ambush is the prequel to the Btrayed series. It introduces us to Sergeant Brandt and his military team. This team works so well together. Without each member this team would not be the well oiled machine that it is. This book just helps you understand what the team does and how well they work. You don't necessarly need to read it to be able to follow the next book, 30 Pieces of Silver. (I didn't read this till afterwards) Either way, it is a great read and helps mesh the books together, well! less
