review 1: The book was good. I just wish that in the book that they mentioned more about the war. I also think that instead of having Helen just leave and not get punished for what she did is wrong. I mean, many people say that after Troy was destroyed, that Helen was punished for her crimes. In this novel nothing happened to her and that made me upset. I think that she should have at least be put in exile. Other than that, the novel was great and I love how she split the novel up into different books. I think my favorite book was the last one.
review 2: This book was terrible. It's saving grace, for me, was that the first half was a readable version of the Iliad. No matter how many times I was assigned to read it for school I could never slog my way through it. I though... moret about abandoning this novel several times, but the story was at least interesting enough that it would have bothered me not to know how it ended. It was unoriginal, poorly written, and the characters were either empty or despicable. less
