review 1: Loved this one! It's like Jane Eyre and Maria from the "Sound of Music" get together at Downton Abbey and create a story. That combination creates the character of Julia Foster. Julia is a young missionary who loved working with her parents in India. Forced to return to England due to her father's illness, Julia reluctantly takes a job as governess of the estate, Highland Hall. Julia's determination and hard work begins to transform the household. However, she faces her biggest challenge dealing with Sir William Ramsey. He has inherited the estate as the MALE living relative. Although the reader might think he's a lucky to inherit such a lush mansion and grounds from his cousin, the fact is the estate is practically bankrupt and William has only a couple of months t... moreo come up with the cash to save it or he will lose it. He faces both financial and emotional ruin from dealing with past wounds due to his deceased wife's infidelity. Turansky provides many twists and turns throughout the story. It was a great read.
review 2: Weer een lekker ouderwetse roman waar je je eigen helemaal in verliest, ik had dit boek dan ook zo uit. Het is makkelijk geschreven en beeldend en het verveeld geen moment. Vaak weet je als je begint met lezen hoe het boek gaat verlopen, wie er nu een stelletje word, of in een thriller weet je de dader word toch wel opgepakt, dat had dit boek ook maar het sleept je mee in een wereld van warmte liefde , het is dat er geen muziek bij zit zoals in een film maar je voelt gewoon dat er iets gaat gebeuren. Ik moet er wel bij zeggen dat in dit boek ook het geloof aan te pas komt maar dat stoort niet en heeft zelfs ook zijn mooie momenten. Voor diegene die van de boeken van Julie klassen houd is dit zeker een aanrader. less
