review 1: This was a really good book. I enjoyed the plot, and suspense. This was a story about a group of super babies. The group had to do yearly questioners. Eva was told she had to go in for a health exam. She was put to sleep during the procedure. She didn't ask questions. She was shocked to find out while she asleep someone implanted a embryo in her womb. Now she is a virgin, but pregnant. Now someone was trying to kidnap Eve. Blake and Eve had to work together to find out who was behind the attacks. The romance between Blake and Eve was sweet, but was cheesy in places. It also felt rushed in places. Sample from chapter 3 – “You seem to be taking this well.” “In a sick way, it makes sense. Why not help nature along in the selection process? Why not make sure the most... more highly evolved people produce offspring’s? “Because it’s wrong to manipulate people.” “It’s morally shady,” She said. “It’s fraud.”Sample from chapter 8 – His dad’s funeral had pulled in the super babies like a magnet. Not an unexpected result. Each of these subjects had communicated with his father once a year for the survey; he had been part of their lives.Sample from chapter 14 – He pulled her out of the chair and into his arms. “then it’s okay if I do this.” His mouth pressed hard against hers. At first, she was surprised by the intensity of his kiss. She’d never been ravaged before but suspected that this was what it felt like. Exciting. Confusing. Her heartbeat accelerated, and her blood rushed. She could almost hear the surging as a fierce energy swept through her.Sample from chapter 18 – The connection between them grew deeper with every moment he spent in her presence. Truly, he thought of her as a partner. She was brave, smart, and damn good looking. Her hair, still damp from the shower, fell in blond tendrils to frame her lovely face. Gently, he kissed her forehead and took the remote from her hand.
review 2: Eve is one of 24 'superbabies' which were 'created' from the sperm/eggs of gifted people approx 26 years ago. These superbabies were monitored throughut their lives on a regular basis toi see how they develop. Yes this is a Mills and Boon story, just in case you are wondering. The story starts when one of the scientists who were monitoring the development of the babies, is murdered, and his son Blake (also a superbaby) is asked by his father not long beofre his death, to protect Eve. She is pregnant, which she is unaware of until informed by Blake, which is a result of her being artificially inseminated during an examination by another scientist. As well as protecting Eve, Blake is intent on solving his Dad's murder. It goes from there. Blake's superpowers are that he is a super soldier and Eve is super geek mathematician. It was a fun read, but predictable including that the skills incorporated by the superbabies, were a bit of a 'no brainer'! It did have some decent, shallow action in it, which was refreshing for a Mills and Boon story, and is a quick and easy read ... and there are times which this is all you need. less
