review 1: I really didn't like this book because it wasn't my style and I really didn't like way it was written. I hated this book so much I couldn't even explain it. I wish I didn't even start reading it because I have this thing where if I start a book I have to finish it. It was fictional characters and I don't really like fantasy... Well actually it depends.. I would only recommend this book to people who like boring books or younger readers/mums or dads who want to read it to their younger kids who like to get bored.
review 2: Well what can I say? This book is frustrating because at its core is a very good idea but it's poorly executed by the author.For a start the writing doesn't flow very well at all and in fact there are several points where it feels like the au... morethor has over complicated things by having too many characters and not knowing what to do with them all. The book would be better with a more stripped back cast and greater character development. Jack and Camelin both have the potential to be really loveable characters but instead we sacrifice that with too much nonsense about various (and seemingly endless) types of mythical beings.I think the author had in her mind this grand multi layered series of books where perhaps all these introductions to characters could blossom. Sadly it leaves a frustrating book.That said the book is not horrendously bad. By the last quarter it is a bit of a page turner but even this I felt should have started earlier and lasted longer as it was a really nice idea.The question is, do I give the author the benefit of the doubt and read book number 2? less
