review 1: Ernest is a huge moose who doesn't fit in the book. The book is full of lots of pictures of him trying to fit into the book. He tries so hard and gets very upset when he can't. Right at the end of the book, his little friend has an idea. They make a bigger book and he fits perfectly. The last picture folds out to show Ernest in full. The message in this book is to never give up, you'll fit in somewhere or somehow. This book would be good for a reception or ks1 class. It could be used as a book read before a circle time session about friends or fitting in. I enjoyed this book, I think children would enjoy it too. The fold out element of the last page would be appealing.
review 2: Ernest is a really large moose who couldn't fit inside the book and he is determine... mored to fit inside it. He seeks the help of his little friend who tries to help him but fails. His little friend then has a BIG IDEA and they stick bits of paper together so that on the last page the moose can fit in the book. This book was about determination, never giving up, and how with the help of friends you can succeed. I thought that the book is a good illustration of how problems can be solved if we ask others and that you should never give up. It can be used in relation to thinking about the future, perhaps talking about targets that children are working towards or what children want to be when they grow up and how to go about achieving them. It can be involved in circle time or children can make their own version of the stories using other big animals in literacy. less
