review 1: loved this book! Had been a long time sence found a good book that I coulnt put away. This book had everything I like for a good story. Harry was a great hero flaws and all. Portia was great you hardly ever find a female that has some spice to her that strong will without over doing it. I love the fact that the cat is a reincarnation of eather rose or fenella. The story was consistant it kept me entertain through out the whole book and I must say that I cant wait to read the next installment!
review 2: (June) I enjoyed this book so much more than the first in the series, which I found plodding and borderline boring. I was surprised that Harry never tells Portia of his troubled past, but was amazed to see him humble himself before her and beg for his brother's
... more life (when he thinks she is the witch who can break the curse placed upon his family). The relationship was sweet and sexy and fun - and ultimately doomed, unless sister Margaret can break the curse once and for all (as a long time romance reader, I'm taking a wild guess she will, and love will triumph!). A bit surprised to find Harry plans to live in Scotland, away from his beloved brother. While I liked the Colonel, I could not believe the harridan Lady MacLean could possibly be good enough for him - she was pretty horrible for the majority of the book! Looking forward to finishing the trilogy w/Margaret's book. less

4.5 Stars... A little witchy bits mixed with historical romance. What's not to love?
