review 1: We all meet that one person that makes a lasting impression on our lives (or will meet) and for thirteen-year-old Megan Bright, that person is Jackson Dawes. Megan has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is admitted to hospital to start treatment. She is not there long before she gets a visit from fellow cancer patient Jackson Dawes. He has an irreverent attitude which at first exasperates her, but slowly wins her over. I couldn't help but compare this to "A Fault In Our Stars" by John Greene. It is the same in subject matter, young people suffering from cancer, but it has a different feel. There were parts that tugged at my heart strings, like the little girl, nicknamed Kipper and the unstinting bravery of the characters within the book. They had their bad days, but it... more makes you think about the real children that are out there braving this terrible illness.I felt Megan's horror as she started to lose her hair and Jackson's pragmatic solution to it. There was the sweetness of a kiss and a bond that formed between the two teens, which felt more like a feeling of kinship rather than girlfriend and boyfriend. The book left me with mixed emotions of sadness as well as hope for Megan as she moved on with her life, never forgetting, and carrying a little spark of Jackson in her heart.
review 2: Megan, a young teenage girl being treated for cancer finds unexpected friendship and romance with another patient at the hospital. Jackson is attractive, charismatic and full of life, making her stay in the hospital a little more bearable. She hopes they can continue their budding romance once they are no longer patients. This book offers some insight into the emotional and physical toil that long-term patients must undergo. It also provides some insight into different types of friendship. less

This looks like it's going to be a sad one. I was sent a packet of kleenex with my copy. :(.
