review 1: Feeling down on herself and need affirmation Maya takes her friend Gina up on an invitation to a club frequented by lion shifters. After being told that her body was not desirable by an ex boyfriend Maya is all for the idea of a club full of shifters that may be participating in some sexual activities. After walking in the door and being started at as if she is the best thing invented since catnip she feels even better about her decision.Alex is the Prime of his pack and owns the club that Maya is visiting. Maya just happened to show up on the celebration day towards fertility that usually ends in an all out orgy for all those attending. The problem is that humans are not normally invited unless they are attached to a specific shifter. The other problem is that Alex can't ... moreseem to get Maya or her scent out of his mind. It smells like she may be the one for him.So what happens when a curvy, mouthy girl with a mind toward a one night stand meets an aggressive, alpha lion shifter who has decided that she may just be his forever? He Ain't Lion. This is a quick read with a lot of snappy come backs and quick wit. There isn't a lot of romancing as the story seems to unfold and finish quickly. There isn't a lot of time to get to deeply know and have feelings for the characters other than what you would get at first glance. All this said it doesn't mean that the story isn't good. It feels as if the story sets the stage for the beginning of the series and as foundations go this one did the job.I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. I'm leaving this one as a like because I think in reading more of the series that this story will come out as doing what it was supposed to do. A quick read with introduction of some of the main players.
review 2: I picked this up as a freebie to fulfill a cat shifter requirement for a challenge I'm in. While it wasn't a bad read overall, there were several things that kept it from being a better read for me. First, it is entirely too short! We see one 24 hour period in these character's lives, and it is a very confusing yet erotic day. The reader is given very little to no world building whatsoever, but clues are hinted at that there is a much bigger world than we are being allowed to see. The plot was laughable, and not in an amusing way, meaning that there really wasn't much of one. While the book was very descriptive, the characters came across as too accepting or high-handed to be really enjoyable. If the remaining books in the series were free, I might pick them up, but if I had to pay for them, I'd pass! less
