review 1: Ceasar's "Way" involves dated techniques using choke chains, punishment, and intimidation to "be the boss" of your dog. That philosophy has led to many dogs being turned into shelters that could have been fine family pets had their owners not followed his advice. Check youtube for the "behind the scenes" videos of why his techniques work on the show. I'm embarrassed I checked this out from the library.
review 2: Being first-time puppy owners, we rushed out and got this book hoping for remedies. While interesting, this is not a quick-fix kind of book. I read most of this and sort of skimmed the rest. Good insights into dog psychology. Two principles I found particularly intriguing— 1. Think of your dog in four ways, in the correct order: animal, spec
... moreies dog, breed, name. 2. Rules for a balanced dog—(1) exercise, (2) discipline (rules, boundaries, and limitations), and (3) affection—in that order. I was thinking how applicable that second principle (expounded upon, of course) is to raising well-balanced children as well. Affection really is only one dimension of love. less
