review 1: A very inspirational read, for people who have or want to have a passion for their jobs. And not in the consuming way, but by enjoying the small things and taking attention to the details.Chad Fowler does a good job telling his fascinating story in a well-structured manner, that is easy to read and even deliver humor.I feel the author may have missed a critical acclaim by not releasing "My Job Went to India (And All I Got Was ThisLousy Book): 52 Ways to Save Your Job" :D.I quote:Failure Is Off the Radar! One of the major steps along the road to creating a remarkable careerfor myself was, ironically, writing the first edition of this book. Thebook used to be called My Job Went to India (And All I Got Was ThisLousy Book): 52 Ways to Save Your Job. It had a picture on the cove... morer of aguy holding a sign that said “Will Code for Food.” It was funny, and itstitle and shocking red cover were meant to play on the Western world’sfears that their jobs were going to be outsourced to low-cost offshoreprogramming teams.
review 2: Chad is a brilliant computer programmer and a good writer as well. This book has one peculiarity that is related to its Intent; which seems to be dwindling between two different ideas,1. Pouring passion in programming scholars.2. Educating programmers of developed countries, how to avoid their work transfer to low cost based companies at other shores.Undoubtedly Chad has a prejudice towards second point in this book, for avoiding work transfer to other shores; that is absolutely valid and understandable. Chad has tried to change the theme of book; to make it look global, in-fact Chad is not less than the offshore software vendors, who are doing everything to sell.... It is really not necessary to change the content to be read in different perspective. A stand is a stand; it should never dilute or subside. I feel Chad should have written another book for passion concept. less

Having just finished the book I have to say that it's already one of my favorite programming books. The pragmatic programmers and Chad thrive on making quality content that is easy to read and contains actionable advice that can be applied immediately with measurable results. The book is a mix of personal experience, proven methods and musings from a great software developer. The tone is really honest which is one of its strongest points. Having had the pleasure of meeting Chad before, the books feels like a conversation rather than a directive or dogma which is refreshing.
