review 1: Great book on bit-sized best practices for software development. Unlike books like Code Complete, which primarily just focus on the code itself, this book also touches on the dynamics of working on teams as well as dealing with typical software development job environments. Each brief chapter also ends with an "Act On It" piece which turns the prior content into something actionable that can be immediately acted upon.
review 2: A good book to somewhat get your bearings if you feel lost in the IT line of business. Best enjoyed when you run through it in advice cherry-picking/act on it loops. If you try to go for every single thing at the same time, you'll end up worse. However, if you take parts of in several servings, it will possibly (I won't say it will suit ... moreeveryone) serve as a true boon for your work life and possibly more. less
