review 1: I enjoyed this book, liked the writing style. It reminded me of The Great Gatsby, and not just because the narrator was not a real main character. Don't want to give anything away, but didn't care for Claire or understand Madeleine's blindness to her. Even her atrocious "boyfriend" had her pegged but everyone else failed or acted like they didn't see it. Don't want to say much more, will give things away to those who haven't read it.
review 2: I might have thought better of this book if the author hadn't been so fond of the superlative--Harry is the best athlete, the best looking, the best writer--THE BEST!! ... more Well you get the idea. And I suspect the author is so monied he wrote the book out of boredom. Thought he'd give writing a whirl. less
