review 1: Book #3, and the action continues to ramp up. Overall I like the series. However, I'm liking the books a bit less as they try to make Lovecraft's original Cthulhu mythos more direct and palatable to kids. But then again I'm not sure that the implicit horror of Lovecraft's ominously vague depiction of the Great Old ones would capture young readers' attention, so the author probably made a good call in being more explicit and direct with the creepy bug creatures in his books.
review 2: Gilman did it again! I just couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. He is really brilliant in describing those bug/insect infesting plots in the story. They are so vivid that I could just feel those maggots and bugs crawling on me! I was literally making "Yewwwww~", "... moreYuk!" "Oh! Gross!" remarks non-stop that my coworker had to come check on me and see what I was reading. The story gets better and better!! I can't wait to read the next book! less
