review 1: Sad to see the series end, but what a ride it's been! Joe Pitt has earned his place among my favorite characters of all time. I just love, love, love Charlie Houston's dialogue and scenes. I want to gush about Huston's characterization and how with just a line of dialogue you can tell who is speaking. Every single page was full of great interaction that felt so natural, it kept me smiling from beginning to end. Great series, highly recommended!
review 2: The Joe Pitt series has been one of my favorites for years; I can read this series over and over again. I don't remember quite how I stumbled on this series, but I'm glad I did. With so many novels out there geared toward vampires, it was nice to read a different take on the genre. Instead of mystical, vampyris... morem in Charlie Huston's world is more of a virus, in the vein of Blade or Underworld. Combine that with staccato sentences, the underworld king of anti-heroes and an intriguing plot set in New York City and you've got yourself an week to spend with Joe Pitt, Dexter Predo, Hurley and Lydia and Phil. Can't recommend this series enough for readers looking for a gritty tale of vampires...who don't sparkle. less
