review 1: This book had a lot of ust that quickly became resolved sexual tension. That was probably one of the pluses for sure. Someone else had mentioned that one of the incongruities in this story is that the idea of Michel going into hiding for ten years and making a new identity doesn't really make sense because literally no one else in this series does that. I agree and I also think the misunderstandings that Jason and Michel have are way overblown. Nonetheless I like the bit with the scientists and enjoyed it overall.
review 2: I liked Jason. He’s being pretty reasonable under the circumstances. Unfortunately, I did not much care for Michel.Nor does the whole idea of hiding away for ten years make that much sense to me. It breaks both logic and continuity. For on
... moree thing, no one else in all the connected series thus far seems to have adopted a different name and job and personality. Secondly, ten years is too damn short.Because it seriously would take more than a decade for people to forget you to a reasonable extent. If you lived in a huge, modern city with hardly any personal contacts, sure. But in any smaller environment – particularly a small town such as the one where the pack has been located for the past hundred years (and it’d have been a village back in Ireland before that) – it would take considerably longer for people to stop recognizing someone. You could get away with forty years, maybe even thirty if you are very lucky and truly keep away from your old haunts. Some books get around this by leaving for twenty years and returning under the guise of being one’s own child. That’s a classic and I am willing to go for it. What we have here? No way.But the first part actually bugs me even more, since a big deal is made out of this decade away business and how everyone supposedly does it. This is a truly annoying kind of retcon. Continuity dies.Copyediting must have slept as well, since all over the place words are missing or phrases incomplete or malformed.Still. I liked Jason. That and a few peeks at Jared made this book okay. less
