review 1: What's not to love about two strong alpha males getting together (one of whom is actually an Alpha)?Abbott and Richard a dominate shifters figuring out how to make their relationship work as Abbott takes over his pack. With a position challenge and then a challenge to the Alpha position, they are able to work as a team while navigating their relationship issues.The story is listed as part of Kontra's Menagerie, but isn't truly except it will probably give a lot of background to a future Kontra story.
review 2: Just ok. Not overly interesting. I like that we are starting to explore shifters and packs that we have met through Kontra's travels instead of focusing on Kontra's pack members alone. Abbott and Richard were the mated couple in this installment. I feel ... morelike this book could have been more exciting. Maybe adding more conflict between the couple. For example, Richard was aware of his mate yet kept his distance from Abbott for months. Why was Abbott not upset by this? If it was me I would have trust issues with my mate after what he had done. Also, Abbotts bisexuality seemed a non issue which is fine but it also could have been a source of conflict that might have provided some excitement. There was only one full sex scene between the couple. It was a very good sex scene! Pretty hot if you ask me! But I wish there had been another towards the end of the book. Abbott tells richard he is going to express his love to him physically but we dont get to see it. Overall the book was just barely in the "good" category...The 3 Charlie Richards series are beginning to be hit or miss. :( less
