review 1: I like how this author treated the subjects of the older sister being responsible for raising younger children in an Amish group where her educational level did not allow her to find a job which would have allowed her to take care of these children, but the families stepped in to make sure that the family stayed together and allowed her to work within the job opened for her. This was one of the first books I read where the leader was in essence fired. This is a good read and it also touch on other subjects which many times are over looked, e.g. the man being shorter than the woman. All I can say is read and enjoy.
review 2: This is book #4 of the Seasons of the Heart Amish romance series. Annie Mae Knepp's father has been excommunicated from Willow Ridge. S
... morehe has decided to stay in Willow Ridge with her sister Nellie rather than join her father in his new community called Higher Ground. She has had to take a job as a waitress at Sweet Seasons Cafe. Adam Wagler is a regular at the cafe and has known Annie Mae since they were kids as their families were neighbors. Adam is harboring a secret guilt he feels over the death of his mamm and feels that he should never get married as a woman would never be able to depend on him. Now Annie Mae has discovered that her 4 younger siblings are being mistreated and she takes them in to live with her as well. Annie Mae has 2 bad experiences with Luke and Yonnie, boys that she has been seeing. She now feels that she will have to live her life as a maidel because no man would want to take her on along with her siblings. Adam is always saving Annie Mae out of tough situations but she is just too headstrong to really see how he feels about her. She also keeps her feelings under control until she finally realizes she can find love.I really enjoyed this story. I have not read any of the books in this series and I think I would have been able to get into this book easier if I had read them. There were a lot of characters and it took me quite a while to get them all in order. It was about halfway through the book that I really became engrossed in Annie Mae and Adam's story. I loved the small town community feel of this book and the characters were so caring and took care of their own. Annie Mae may have felt alone but the community and Adam rallied beside her and made sure she and her siblings were taken care of. The romance moved very slowly and was heartwarming near the end. I would like to read the other books in this series so I can learn more about the Amish people of Willow Ridge.I received this book free through GoodReads First Reads in exchange for an honest review. less
