review 1: This was the first book that I've read that was first in another language before, which made me feel cool when reading it.As for the story, I did really like it. I liked how each of the characters that we were introduced to, we actually got a chance to read about them a bit, and got to know them, instead of being just surface characteristics, that some crime/mystery books have.I was intrigued by both the 'past' section of the story, as well as the present, which tells a lot for me, since normally I want to get straight to the present! And I've never read a novel about (or partly about), the evacuation of children because of the war, so that part was interesting. The actual crime, or crimes I should say, kept me reading! For the first crime, I was disappointed that I wasn't... more able to find about who did it, but since that wasn't the main crime of the story, I didn't mind so much.As for the second crime that involved all the characters, as for who did it, I was definitely surprised, since I thought it was going to be another character all together. Reflecting on it now, I guess the killer makes sense, because who else could t really have been, although when I was reading it, it was a little hard to believe. Also hard to believe was that another character that thought that maybe that person was the killer but wasn't sure. That didn't happen until the end, which was unfortunate, because that would have made everything more interesting if she let on beforehand. All in all, a very interesting read.
review 2: Herrlich. Wie bei fast allen Büchern der autorin war ich auch hier wieder sofort mitten im Geschehen. Ein Prolog der gleich mal 1000 Fragen aufwirft und man sofort mit grübeln beginnt. Hier erwartet den Leser eine wirklich ausgereifte, packende Story in der nichts so ist wie es scheint. 2 Morde passieren relativ schnell aufeinander und ich habe krampfhaft überlegt wie das alles zusammenhängen kann und was warum und wie passiert ist. Aber keine Chance, wieder passiert etwas neues oder man erfährt etwas neues und man ist wieder ganz am Anfang und muss von vorn nachdenken und grübeln. die unterscheidlichen Charaktere fand ich auch super, alle authentisch und interessant und vor allem jeder könnte der Täter sein. Da beginnt man schon fast automatisch zu analysieren.Das das buch fast 700 Seiten hat habe ich gar nicht bemerkt, so flüssig und Spannend hat es sich weggelesen und als es dann auf das Ende zuging habe ich echt mitgefiebert, auch wenn ich die ganze Zeit schon geahnt habe wer der Täter ist. Ich persönlich fand das Ende dann echt gut geschrieben, aber trotzdem tooootal traurig :( Klare Leseempfehlung! less
