review 1: This was my first Charlotte Stein book. I anticipate it'll be the first of many. As a heavy reader (and writer) in this genre, I've read hundreds of formulaic stories with rebranded seen-them-before characters, written in a canned literary voice. I fell in love with Ms. Stein's voice even before I fell in love with Dillon. And I *did* fall in love with Dillon. He's sweet and sexy and broken in unique, believable ways. And our heroine, Kit, has her own unique, believable issues to contend with. Her roadblocks aren't thrown up as tools of the writer. They feel like the valid struggles of a real person.Anyone who knows the mechanics of sex can write erotica (and they do, unfortunately). To write *good* erotica, one must understand people, and Ms. Stein most certainly... more does.
review 2: The sex scenes were good, not that great, as I had to skip some of the inner monologue that was just killing the sex scenes for me. The guy was a breath of fresh air because he's not the brooding abusive alpha male, but the lead female really annoyed me. Have a little bit of confidence girl! Sure we all get real conscious but the way she puts herself down just so the guy could contradict her thoughts of being fugly and unworthy? Nope. Nuh-uh. I want my heroines with some confidence please. less

Lovely book with some truly beautiful characterization, but I wanted a little more from the ending.

Marvellous. How all erotic fiction should be written. Beautiful heart wrenching emotion.
