review 1: One of my favorites out of Stein's work - it's fun, flirty and cute. My favorite line: "Lord, I'm not going to get through this alive. Please Lord, save me from Mick Hennessey."I love her hesitation and constant concerns over granny. Which - by the way - only Stein can mention Granny during a sex scene and still come away with her head held high!"...But I don't think the Lord is listening. His Gran might be, but any and all deities are nowhere to be found..."Pure genius.Oh - hah, "Merry Christmas" . . . There are some phrases once so sterile in their meaning that will now take on a whole new layer of filthy in my mind and that's one of them.
review 2: The writing in this novella is good, and the premise interesting (hence the four stars)...but I can't quite put... more my finger on why the book didn't work for me. I don't know if I've ever read an erotic romance written in the first person, so maybe the thoughts running through the head of the main protagonist during the sex scenes made me uncomfortable? I don't know. All I know is that I wanted the sex scenes to finish (not that they were overally long). *shakes head* Don't let my review put you off the novella as the fact this didn't work for me is completely a 'me' thing and no reflection on the book :) less
