review 1: I read this book for a challenge and absolutely loved it. This author is new to me and she has a new fan. This book had a good storyline, good action and pacing.Vic short for Victoria is a bad-ass former Marine who is released from service after having her knee shattered. While trying to prove she still "has it" jumps to the rescue of a woman trying to escape a man. She fails and is taken to a basement were she witnesses a boy held in a cage turn into a mountain lion. She helps him escape and in return he gifts her the ability to shift. She also makes a promise to tell the boys grandfather what has happen to him. Vic keeps her promise and makes her way to the town of Cold Creek. There she meets a pair of brothers who help her realize that being a shifter is not all tha... moret bad and in comes with some very good perks. The town of Cold creek is filled with shifters of all varieties as well as otherfolk and humans. I loved this town with its mountain backdrop where most folks walk. I thought the author did a great job bringing the town and its shifters to life. And of course the sexy brothers are to die for and alpha leaders to boot. I liked the tradition of the men sharing the women because more male shifters are born and to keep the species going all umated shifteres must attend Gatherings which are held every full moon. The women do the the picking and can mate with as many men as she wants or not.The other thing I liked about this story is that the shifters as long as all of the werecreatures are of the same species can and do mate in animal form. I never understood why most stories have the shifters hunt and stalk prey as animals but are unable to mate while in animal form. This story does away with this flaw.I would definitely recommend this story for fans of shifters and menage. I certainly enjoyed it and look forward to next book in the series.
review 2: Great book, am a Cherise Sinclair fan, not sure is this is her first paranormal, but the balance is done quite well. In setting up the background, introducing characters, and the steamy scenes, the balance is good.Often times in reading paranormals you need along time to adjust to axis to get your bearings in the lingo, setup, but with Vicki we were brought into it logically minded, balanced. If I have a qualm with the book, albeit a little one, the girl calls herself Vic, but introduces herself as Vicki, which really doesn't suit her character. less
