review 1: Mediocre. The writing's pretty flat and repetitive, with a lot of stock phrases in the prose and dialogue. "Pain radiated outward," "the acrid smell," "the world went dark," etc. Additionally, what started as an interesting mystery devolved into an almost endless series of chases. The resolution consisted mainly of the main character making an educated guess about whodunit, and then the book ended.
review 2: I liked the book and found it interesting but thats because im a fan of this type of fiction. The story is fast and action paced but predictable and it does not take long to realise who the bad guy or bad guys are! The story revolves around a soul collector who refuses to collect the soul of a girl he feels is innocent of the crimes she has supposedly commi... moretted. if he makes a mistake then a war could break out between heaven and hell and end the world and so begins a chase to find out the truth while running from both humans, angels and demons all hell bent on getting the girl! first in a trilogy of books and look forward to the second one! less
