review 1: This is book 2 of the Collector series and is every bit as good if not better than the first one. Sam continues to get caught in the crossfire of the looming war between Heaven and Hell. When one of his souls he was sent to collect goes missing, Sam has to find it and do it fast. All that is at stake is the lives of pretty much everyone on the planet. No pressure. At least he has the help of a dead gangster named Gio and his blind, transgendered girlfriend. This is twisted noir at its best!
review 2: I love the concept of the Collector, but this book isn't quite up to the same level as the first in the series. Don't get me wrong, the book is good and Angry Robot continues its trend of working on the bloody, rusted edge of UF. But with this book the story is not
... more as tight and there are sections where huge "wait...wtf happened" events occur but not in the blow your mind manner but the confusing non-sequitur variety. I'll read the third because I love the voice of the character, but was slightly disappointed in this one. less
