review 1: Loved the artwork and the imaginative characters, the bearded turtle and the hare with chicken legs, for example. The theme of revenge vs. stopping a madman is also admirable. Killing of animals and stuffing them for decorative purposes will be a “turn-off” for some, and the violence will frighten most, or sadly, encourage others. Chickenhare is definitely intended for older MS/younger YA, especially those who like a sparsity of text. I would not recommend to those with control issues, but, one could easily use it to make analogies about good and evil in modern life.
review 2: An evil taxidermist seeks rare animals (like a cross between a chicken and a rabbit...) to stuff. The animals don't wish to be stuffed or otherwise maimed, so, an escape plan is hatc
... morehed, and the adventure begins. The drawing is decent, the story flows fine. I did not, however, find it funny, though I got the distinct impression that I was meant to be laughing. It was okay (and my 13 year old agrees), though I don't need to read any further editions. less

This was a cute and fun graphic novel for middle school/junior high kids.

Fun world-building and a promising start devolves into nonsense.
