review 1: I really enjoyed this book. In game there is so much left out that should be said. It should be noted more clearly. It was intriguing to read about heroes of the world of Azeroth and their journeys that brought them where they are. Jaina was given so much more depth and character in this book, it sways a player from finding her a pawn in the game to a real noteworthy character. There were parts of this book that pulled at the heart strings and to draw an emotion is always a good read.
review 2: The Horde has been assigned a new Warchief as Thrall steps down to take up the mantle of responsibility left by Deathwing. In his new role as Aspect of Earth, Thrall appoints Garrosh Hellscream as the new Warchief, despite protestations from his former counsellors. Has T
... morehrall made a terrible mistake in putting his faith in the young, headstrong orc? Now, with the power of the Horde behind his every command, Garrosh calls for war against the Alliance as he plans to claim the continent of Kalimdor for his own, starting with the destruction of Theramore. Garrosh disregards the advice of his council at every turn, with only the thought of completely annihilating the Alliance on his mind. Has Garrosh gone mad with power?Elsewhere, the blue dragonflight are in disarray when their leader, Kalecgos discovers that a very powerful magical artifact under their care has been stolen and upon searching for its whereabouts, Kalecgos finds himself enlisting the help of one of the Alliance's best mages, Lady Jaina Proudmoore. But Jaina has just received news from a source within the Horde of Garrosh's plan to gather all the clans of the Horde to march upon Theramore and is preparing herself to take a stand and defend her city. Will she succeed in doing so against such odds?Tides of War is probably the best book I have read from the Warcraft series, with the story wonderfully told by Christie Golden. I lack time to play the game so am very grateful to be able to catch up on the world lore via these books. This arc in the history of Azeroth is incredibly sad but also has great character developments with explanations on certain switching of factions. It has made me want to log into the game again and see the new character models and where they are now based.I am an avid Horde supporter but the terrible events that occurred in this book has made me want to switch to Alliance if Garrosh continues to stay in power. That's how strongly I feel about the events of this book. less
