review 1: It could have been that I didn't exactly remember what happened in the first book, or this one just wasn't as interesting. I mean I enjoyed reading it, but the characters were painfully generic as was their story. Call me crazy, but I don't really see what was so special about the main female character. She seemed like a pretty big bitch, if the situation were reversed, where the girl was really into a guy and he was all "No, I don't want to be with you like that, I just want my freedom. We can still have sex but I don't want to get married and be settled." and the girl kept telling him that they'd be great together, it would be considered stalking and she'd be called clingy. I guess I don't really like how when guy is pushing for a relationship it can be considered roman... moretic but if a lady does it, she's clingy. I don't know if I'll be picking up the rest of the companion stories from this series, it depends.
review 2: Sorry, but I could not empathize with the heroine's (non) issues at all. She is self-absorbed, narrow-minded and unappreciative of the hero (Shane), who is pretty awesome. So I find it really, really hard to believe that a smart guy with healthy self-esteem would ever consider, let alone desire, a long-term, serious relationship with someone as immature as Cat. I'd advise him to get her out of his system ;) and move on to greener -- and more deserving -- pastures a.s.a.p. less
