review 1: As most other reviewers mentioned Christopher Nuttall is a great author and clearly knows how to write a good story. My only complaint is one that many will think I'm being a prude on. It is the explicit sex scenes. It doesn't bother me much for a story line to contain references to illicit sex. The illicit sex was only a minor part of the story and had little to nothing to do with the plot. However Nuttall went into some pretty explicit detail of the actual sex act like some trashy romance novel. I'm just not interested in such details. I really want to finish the series but decided against it.
review 2: This kept popping up on my amazon recommendations, so I gave it a try. Horrid. It needs a good editor. The story concepts weren't that bad, but the writ
... moreing was awful, high school amateur hour. It needs a good editor to get rid of the constantly repeating descriptions. If you read a chapter a week you might not notice, but I listened to the audiobook on a 15 hour drive, so got it all in one shot. The story's style feels like a a high schooler fantasy. A little research into carrier operations or at least watching Battlestar Galactica would also do the author some good. less

The story was okay, but quite illogical at times, and could get tediously repetitive.

better than starfire; although, followed basic SF concepts ( except crazy names )

Fun good old space opera epic. It was a fun read. Now onto the second book.
