review 1: An excellent overview of how writers can create a platform that helps them sell books. It covers everything from creating a website for showcasing your expertise to blogging and social media. Some of the information is very basic, especially if you are already comfortable being online. I think for many writers, though, much of the material will be a useful reminder to create a platform well before you start writing your book (or even worse, after it is already published and sales are lagging). In the end, says Sambuchino, this is what will help you sell books.
review 2: I recommend this book not only to writers, but to people who find themselves in the job market or perhaps may soon be on the job market. The book is chock full of information on how to build yo
... moreur visibility as a professional in your chosen field, in this case as a writer. The book gives an overview of different tools available to someone building their platform, and how best to incorporate each tool into your own platform building. Also included is advice from agents on what they are looking for.My only gripe with this book is Chuck encourages people to only stick with platform outlets you can make work for yourself. If something isn’t working for you, drop it completely. It looks better to not have that outlet at all, then to have lackluster numbers. Which is actually really great advice, because then you can focus on something that is actually giving you results. Then all the agents claim Twitter numbers are the most important thing they look at. So, as an author, you better make Twitter work for you, or you’re screwed on publication.Regardless, it’s an incredibly helpful book that comes highly recommended. less

Decent. Obvious. Very clear that this guy gets paid by the word. But not bad advice, after all.

A bit too much promotion of his own books, but nevertheless a good collection of useful tips.
