review 1: I wanted to like this book so much more than I actually did. We've all been there with the bad relationships and Darby Quinn is no exception. After meeting Jake, the male interest, she gives evidence as to why she should give up on love with her 'case files' of exes. The overall concept was cool and amusing - especially considering the two sides of Disney love, which she uses as her basis. But in doing this, Madsen often transitioned into past and present with such frequency that it was sometimes hard to keep up.While I rooted for Darby at the beginning of the book, about half way through, I was fed up with her. Sure, we've all been burned by people we loved (or thought we did at the time). But Darby's obsession with finding something wrong with Jake ended up frustrating m... moree. In the end, I couldn't decide who I was more irritated with - Darby for dragging her baggage from her past relationships into a future one - or Jake for allowing himself to be pushed and pulled away constantly. Especially because he's nothing but understanding and nice.By about sixty percent through the book, I hated Darby Quinn and her paranoia. It's hard not to hate someone who goes out of their way to ruin a good thing that's going for them. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Jake instead, who became 'the guy who always chooses the wrong girl'.Despite my dislike for it, it's got pretty high ratings. So if you're a real romance buff who likes a bit of humor, it might be right up your alley. As for me, I need a character who learns from their past mistakes and doesn't punish people who don't deserve it.
review 2: The storyline was interesting, the reference for Disney princess & prince in comparison to her relationships were good. Found that her relationships weren't all bad, that if she claimed to 'love' them why couldn't she think of moving with them, for someone who had case studies on every guy, she still didn't mind using the love word even if only with them for a few months. The holding out of sex didn't make a lot of sense either, just couldn't really understand the 'love' reasoning. Most of this book was of the present and past, sometimes I couldn't follow the timeline and which guy was the next one or previous one. When she finally does seem to let go of her hang ups & falls again.... in love, that's when the book basically ends. No future, no epilogue, just together which would of been fine if the whole point of this story wasn't about her having a happily ever after and the fact she referred to the movies ending before you really got to see their relationship. less
