review 1: I absolutely loved this book. The time period is one of my favorites, but the book itself had me captivated. I completely fell in love with Orlando Holt and Susanna, I found myself sad that the book ended and they were essentially gone. While The Rebel is next up on my list, I am saddened that the Charmer was over. All good stories must come to an end, but it was written so well I wanted more, or maybe it was just so well written that I was charmed myself!! Great book, great story and extremely well written!!
review 2: I probably would have given this book four stars if it weren't for the orange trees being cultivated past their hardiness zone. The book *did* feel a bit rough around the edges, like the author needed to do one more editing pass before letti... moreng it loose on the world. But the interesting characters and uniqueness of the story made up for any roughness (which weren't typos, just failures to flow, and thus might not bother most people). less
